A Step-back to Next-steps
I was working on the world again and realized just how bad performance was and I need to rework pretty much everything (I was planning to anyway... this initial setup was testing).
I am maybe considering moving from Unity (3d) to Construct in 2d where I did my early conceptualizing ... a massive overhaul and shift from my original vision and plans. I don't want to resort to that so I intended to keep trying to stay closer to the original plan. I think I will drop much of the post-processing (but but... its so pretty)... and I've started working with World Composer to get my Venice-like map - but I the wonky behavior of updated tech with older tech has been throwing me off.... I just want it to all work peacefully together without all the bugs! (that is where Construct is ideally more appealing - I go so much longer without it throwing errors and bugs). I am not ready to dismiss it yet.
Generally speaking to do on my list to try out:
1. Create the world map and populate the Open World portion with the low-poly environment
2. First Person Controller (Possibly go with Core Game Engine with Traversal-Addon *but addin will need additional purchase, other assets mentioned are already owned/licensed).
3. Add in the cities.
4. Add in "memories" to find in the cities... (as collectable books) - Memories add skills.
5. Add in WorldSpace Icon system
6. Add in "Level Barriers".... (each as time permits) ---- Bridge ---- Docks ---- Mountain ---- Canyon/River
7 (optional). Add an Ophanim Roller controller for zoom-zoom fun!
